Frequently Asked Questions

What is a compatible ink cartridge ?

A compatible ink cartridge is one that has been manufactured
by a company other than the Original Equipment
Manufacturer(OEM). The compatible cartridges are usually
designed using a process called reverse engineering, in
which the manufacturer duplicates the function and behavior
of the original cartridge but without copying the original
design. This essentially leads to products that are not exactly
like the OEM, and sometimes they even work better. In some
other cases because of the limitations of reverse engineering,
the compatible cartridge not always performs as the original,
for that reason is important to purchase your compatible or
replacement cartridge for reputable vendors like IMAGETEK,
that will provide full satisfaction policies, and offer high quality
compatible ink and toner cartridge.

Can the manufacturer void the warranty on my printer if I use
a compatible ink cartridge ?

Compatible replacement cartridges and supplies do not void
Printer Warranty, which is proven by the following US
Congress Legislation.
Magnusson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act United States
Code Annotated Title 15 Commerce and Trade Chapter 50
Consumer Product Warranties 15 Section 2302. No warrantor
of a consumer product may condition his written or implies
warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in
connection with such product, any article or service (other
than article or service provided without charge under the
terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or
corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection
may be waived by the commission if:

A.- The warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted
product will function properly only if the article or service so
identified is used in connection with the warranted product,
and
B.- The Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public
interest.

This means that printer manufacturers cannot void the
warranty on your printer because you use supplies and
products manufactured by a third party manufacturer. We
cannot replace a printer or have it fixed should any problems
occur from using a remanufactured or compatible ink
cartridge. We guarantee our products from any faults and we
have not had a single case of a printer being ruined by a
cartridge sold by us.

What is a remanufactured cartridge ?

A remanufactured cartridge is a cartridge that has been
disassembled and its worn parts are replaced with new
ones. The print cartridge then receives a new print head, is
refilled with printer ink, and tested in the factory to guarantee
print quality. It is basically the recycling of an empty cartridge
process.

What does professionally remanufactured mean ?

Professional remanufactured cartridges have been recycled
to meet or exceed Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
specifications. The recylcling and remanufacturing process
involves inspecting, disassembling, cleaning, replacing worn
out parts, reassembling an refilling the toner or ink. Once the
process is completed, the cartridge is then tested, sealed and
ready to be sold.
